Reclaim the Kids’ Room

Author: Grace (61)

One thing I’ve learned over the last few years is that there is life after the kids move out. And the trick is to stop them moving back in!

Here’s my tip. You really need to reclaim their room and make it your own. Just pack up the stuff they leave behind, old school projects, sporting trophies and the like…and store it all in the shed. Then sell the bed online and get started on setting up the room the way you want it.

We wanted a bit of study and reading room, so we gave it a coat of paint, replaced the old dinosaur curtains with a some plantation shutters, bought a couple of book shelves, a small desk and a nice comfy reading chair.

Just in case they come to stay over for a night or two, it’s a good idea to invest in a decent sofa bed. But not too comfy…you don’t want to make them too welcome!
