Holiday hints

Planning a family holiday can be overwhelming – especially with grandkids.

It’s best to plan the important things well, and the rest will just fall into place.

Here’s a list of things we do to make sure our holiday goes to plan without too many hitches!!

Pick the perfect (or close to) destination.  Ages and interests will always vary. Take your time – it’s worth it in the long run. Choose a destination that has something for everybody. If you can’t find something for everyone in one place, try to find a city/town that has multiple attractions for various ages and interests. This will give you plenty to choose from, and will ensure that everyone gets at least one day at an attraction that they’ll love.

Choose a place to stay that’s big enough for everyone. Don’t get something too small and suffer! Choose a house to rent or bigger apartment – Airbnb’s are the way to go these days. This also means you’ll have kitchen facilities and separate rooms.

As grandparents (and of course parents of kids in our previous life!), we  want to be prepared for anything. However taking too much can be a burden so try to limit the things you take. The necessities are of course clothes, toiletries, medications and nappies and wipes for those grandkids who still need them. It’s also a good idea to pack the things that may be hard to find on your trip.
